I was also disappointed to learn it does not have Solitaire (game) on it, as my previous iPAQ did.HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld (FA979AA#ABA) (110 Series) Good, slim size and lightweight, however I've never been able to access email or Internat access from it at any location. Very complicated to set up email and Internet access.
I find it very adequate for my needs, it syncs nicely with my PC with all the Office apps. I keep about 4G of music on a SD chip and the sound quality is comparable to my iPod. I had a problem with my HP111 when new, the battery would discharge rapidly and the case would be very warm. My personal data is protected with an easy to use password unlock feature. I would have given it a 5 except that I cannot find any games to work with it. I sent it back to HP and it was fixed under warranty and is working OK now. HP was easy to work with and I had it back within one week.
He promised to contact me in the afternoon to show me via internet how to get my refund. He promised to give me a refund for my postage ($19). I was on my way out the door when the man called. I purchased a PDA and paid extra to get the product deliver the next day. I did not receive a call back, nor received a refund. I received a phone call from Amazon.com as I soon as I posted my previous opinion. The product did not arrive the next day. The man who called me was very defensive about my review.
My only caution is to avoid getting a refurbished model. The new unit is working fine. I sync with no problems between it and my laptop. I had been a Palm user for a long time and found I had to switch to something else when I upgraded to a Windows Vista system. spend the bucks to get a new one. It was a refurbished model that I think wasn't quite up to snuff. I'll be honest; the first iPAQ111 I had was a horrible. It died an early death so after some researching I decided to get a new iPAQ111.
The "Contact" features the iPAQ 111 does not measure up to the features offered by the Visor. I didn;t want a cell phone, blackberry, camera, a multitude of applications, I just wanted a simple Personal Digital Assistant like my stolen PDA. HP should develop their own backup software to replace the MS Outlook spplication which is very anemic compared to the software provided by Palm. Because of unfortunate circumstances (my PDA was stolen while visiting Paris), I had to seek a replacement. I brought the HP iPAQ 111 after reading all of the literature I could find on it and any Palm products.
